I tried only with the CPU now that I have 24 cores, but even assigning all the cores prevents me from decoding multiple file (one is OK but 2 makes the decoding goes at 20fps which is a no-go for a media server).

It'll forcefully split up the iommu groups to the hypervisor so you can do the pass through, but it does mean that the cards that were in the same group before can technically see each other's dma and other stuff on the bus.

You’ll obviously need a Mac compatible second GPU to passthrough and I’d say the other important thing is having a motherboard that isn’t stingy with IOMMU groups so passing through USB controllers and sound becomes painless.
